Why Anthela®
Among Himalayan salt, two core issues have long been ignored:
So far, Anthéla® is the only company that owns superior Himalayan Salt mineral resources and establishes a complete supply chain from Himalayan salt mine to global consumers table to achieve food-grade quality control in the world.
- What the ingredients?
- How to process?
So far, Anthéla® is the only company that owns superior Himalayan Salt mineral resources and establishes a complete supply chain from Himalayan salt mine to global consumers table to achieve food-grade quality control in the world.
What are the ingredients?
As rock salt crystallized from ancient seawater 200 million years ago and mineralized with the Himalayan orogenic geological movement, Himalayan Salt Ore is available in food grade and non-food grade.
These rock salts have been incorporated with many ionized minerals during hundreds of millions of years of evaporative deposition and high temperature, high pressure geological transformations, but also with different compositions and quantities of inedible impurities such as rocks, soil, gypsum, and so on.
Because of the different quantities and compositions of inherent impurities, not all Himalayan salt mines are food-grade and can be used directly to produce salt for human consumption.
Food-grade Himalayan salt is of different quality, just as diamonds are of different grades.
Only 30% of the Himalayan salt mined in Pakistan each year is food grade and about 70% is used as raw material in the salt industry.
The highest quality food-grade Himalayan salt accounts for only about 3-5% of the total amount mined annually.
How are they produced?
Aside from the fact that salt mines are supposed to be food-grade, how they get from ore in salt mines as far away as Pakistan to salt on your table is another major issue.
There are two extremely different production routes for turning rock salt into table salt: non-food production vs. food production.
Non-food production is the production of Himalayan salt using equipment, facilities and processes that cannot be used for food processing (the same conditions used to process crushed stone and rock dust for construction sites):
Undifferentiated food-grade salt ore is used as raw material, crushed and sieved in mining equipment, and sold as so-called natural salt.
Food production is the production of Himalayan salt under conditions of equipment, facilities and processes that meet food production standards:
Only food-grade salt mines are used, cleanly produced in food-grade plants, and then made into clean, natural salt.
The vast majority of consumers simply don't realize how the Himalayan salt they pay a higher price for is actually produced, thinking that of course Himalayan salt is as pure as the Himalayan salt icebergs.
However, the reality is very harsh.
Much of the Himalayan salt sold on the market is produced under non-food conditions and reaches the consumer's table through the following almost globally accepted pattern.
First, undifferentiated food-grade Himalayan salt is used as a raw material, processed (simply crushed and sieved) in local factories that simply cannot meet basic sanitary conditions, and exported in large packages as table salt;
These large packages of Himalayan salt are then purchased by brand owners in different countries or regions for distribution at their destination;
Finally, they are sold to consumers as high-end natural salt.
Can't answer the question of what is the raw material? How is it produced? These two core questions cannot guarantee the quality and food safety of the Himalayan salt on your table.
Through a number of world-leading innovations, Anthéla® provides the perfect solution to these two central questions of Himalayan salt quality and food safety.
First in the world to create a Himalayan salt grading standard and a three-tier sorting process to ensure that only the highest quality food-grade Himalayan salt is used in the production of table salt.
The world's first 11-step clean production process for Himalayan natural salt, ensuring that the purest natural salt is produced in the cleanest way possible.
More importantly, Anthéla was the first in the world to establish the Himalayan Salt Product Traceability System (HSPTS), which realizes the full traceability of the quality of Himalayan salt from the Himalayan salt mines to the tables of consumers around the world. The HSPTS has been certified by BSI with a high score and accepted by COSTCO.

Anthela® Story
Anthéla® was born out of a journey the founder took to Pakistan in 2009.
As an avid fan of natural foods, he led a team of organic farming trials, traveled to Italy in search of virgin olive oil, and was an early adopter of sourcing Himalayan salt for his family.
On that trip, a Pakistani friend took him to the Punjab province to visit the Salt Range, where he had longed to see the world's finest natural Himalayan salt deposits.
He was struck by the two extremes of what he saw:
The magnificent landscape of the Salt Range, which stretches for more than 200 kilometers;
The exceptionally poor production conditions in the many Himalayan salt processing plants in the area.
He could not imagine that natural salt, recognized as the purest in the world, was being mined and processed under such harsh conditions.
The contrast made him determined to devote himself to the Himalayan natural salt industry to revolutionize it.
He created the Anthela® brand in the name of his wife and four children, dedicated to bringing cleaner, healthier natural salt to consumers around the world.
Anthela's unshakeable belief in producing the purest natural salt in the cleanest way possible became apparent when he incorporated his beloved family into the brand.
For more than a decade, with the determination to make a difference and the mission to give, Anthela® has brought the world's most advanced technology, the highest standard of food management system and social responsibility to the Himalayan salt industry, bringing disruptive changes to the industry.
Anthéla® has continued to provide more and more consumers in Europe, Asia and the Americas with the best natural salt on earth, quietly changing the way many families season their food.
